Wingspan Stent System
The device, called the Wingspan™ Stent System, is used for individuals with intracranial atherosclerotic disease, which results from too much plaque in brain arteries.
Traditional medical management for such blockages using blood thinners such as Coumadin and aspirin is frequently ineffective. Doctors have tried using heart stents — the mesh metal tubes placed in a coronary artery to keep it open after an interventional procedure — but they are stiff and not meant for the more fragile blood vessels in the brain.
The Wingspan Stent is self-expanding and is placed using minimally invasive techniques. It is threaded through an artery in the leg. Instead of steel, the most commonly used material for traditional coronary stents, the Wingspan stent is composed of nitinol, an alloy of nickel and titanium. This design puts less pressure on the blood vessel when it expands.
Onyx® HD-500
The Onyx® Liquid Embolic System (Onyx® HD-500) is an artificial material used to block blood flow into aneurysms. The material is used to fill the aneurysm space, or pocket, and prevent the aneurysm from rupturing or increasing in size.
Aneurysms in the brain may rupture and cause bleeding into the surrounding brain tissue. In order to prevent such bleeding, it may be necessary to fill the aneurysm with material to block off the aneurysm space and thereby prevent the aneurysm from rupturing. Onyx® Liquid Embolic System (Onyx® HD-500) is used in the treatment of intracranial, saccular, sidewall aneurysms that present with a wide neck (4 mm) or with a dome-to-neck ratio (< 2) that are not amenable to treatment with surgical clipping.
The Merci Retrieval System™
The Merci Retrievers consist of a family of corkscrew-shaped products that help remove blood clots from large vessels within the neurovasculature. The memory-wire construction allows the Merci Retriever to be delivered through the vasculature in linear form and then return to its coiled formation following deployment. The Merci Retriever has been cleared by the FDA for thrombus removal in acute ischemic stroke patients as well as for foreign body retrieval. The Merci Retrieval System may be used in patients who are ineligible for or do not respond to existing treatments such as IV t-PA and who are beyond the three-hour window.

The Penumbra System™
The Penumbra System is a package of tools used to remove occlusions from the large vessels of the brain that are causing an acute ischemic stroke. It works on the proximal surface of the occlusion, optimizing safety and eliminating the need for navigation beyond the occlusion. The Penumbra System is comprised of an aspiration platform containing multiple devices that are size-matched to the specific neurovascular anatomy allowing clots to be gently aspirated out of intracranial vessels.
CORDIS ENTERPRISE™ Vascular Reconstruction Device and Delivery System
The CORDIS ENTERPRISE™ Vascular Reconstruction Device and Delivery System is used with embolic coils for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. It consists of a self-expanding stent and a delivery system. The stent serves as a scaffold for embolic coils to prevent herniation of the coils into the parent vessel. The stent is a self-expanding, metal (nitinol) mesh in the shape of a tube. The delivery system is composed of an introducer and delivery wire and is used to deliver the stent to the treatment site. The CORDIS ENTERPRISE™ System is intended for use with embolic coils for the treatment of wide-neck, intracranial, saccular or fusiform aneurysms.
